Panel of the Week – Bananas, Bullets, and (Panda) Bears

Every Wednesday, GeekParty highlights the week’s best comic book panels. Last week, pandas were sad. This week, they took a level in badass.

Pandas are a strange and mysterious creature. For years, researchers believed that they weren’t actually bears. They have terrible taste in food, they hate having sex, and they’ll probably drive themselves into extinction.

They’re pretty great in comic books, though.

Panel of the Week – Hondas, Hall Passes, and Hawkman

Every Wednesday, GeekParty highlights the week’s best comic book panels. Last week, we advocated for mustaches. This week, we’re speaking out on behalf of ninjas.

While some people like to spend the Fourth of July setting off fireworks, we here at GeekParty prefer to sit down with some comic books. Superheroes will always be the best way to celebrate Independence Day.

Panel of the Week – Murder, Mustaches, and Mutants

Panel-DaredevilHeaderEvery Wednesday, GeekParty highlights the week’s best comic book panels. Last week, Martians piloted airplans. This week, ants are piloting sugar cubes.

Marvel announced their post Secret Wars line-up, and it’s kind of overwhelming. I’m not opposed to changes, but a new Hulk? A new Star-Lord? It’s a little too much at once. I mean, I’m still adjusting to the new Batman.

Still, as long as I can keep buying comics drawn by the likes of Chris Burnham and Chris Samnee, I think I can deal.

E3 2015: Assassin’s Creed Syndicate Would Make a Great Otome Game

assassin's creed syndicateUnlike some GeekParty staffers, I’ve never been much of an Assassin’s Creed fan. I like jumping off tall building as much as the next person, sure, but its story and gameplay never managed to grab me.

But in spite of my lack of interest, I couldn’t help but find myself sucked in by Ubisoft’s new Assassin’s Creed Syndicate trailer. It’s not that I’m interested in playing the game; I’ll almost certainly ignore it. I just found myself charmed by its cast, from their accents to their fashionable ensembles. [Read more…]

E3 2015: The For Honor Trailer Has Killer Fight Choreography

for honorHere’s the thing: I’m probably not going to play For Honor. It’s not that there’s anything wrong with it — it looked pretty cool, really — it’s just  not my thing. Online kill-for-alls aren’t fun for me, even when they involve swords. I’ve only seen a few minutes of footage, so I might change my mind in the future, but I won’t be putting in pre-orders anytime soon.

But man, it had one hell of a trailer. [Read more…]

E3 2015: Ashen Makes Life Without a Sun Look Pretty Magical

Needless to say, I enjoy the survival genre. [Read more…]

E3 2015: ReCore Killed the Dog, and It Was Wonderful

recore dogA steady diet of video games has left me reasonably desensitized to human-on-human violence, but violence against animals is something I can’t handle. Unfortunately, many developers are fully aware of this, and are more than happy to kill off dogs in the name of delivering punches to the gut.

It’s effective, sure, but it’s made it hard for me to enjoy any non-Sims game with pets in its cast. When I see a dog on my screen, I don’t feel excited; I feel terrified. I know the pooch in question is probably going to meet a horrible end, and I know I don’t want to watch that happen. [Read more…]
