Bethesda’s E3 Press Conference – Four Predictions

Skyrim Facebook HackedRecently, it was announced that Bethesda, the popular RPG developer/publisher, will be holding its first ever E3 press conference the Sunday before the event officially begins. In the wake of this monumental announcement, social media has been abuzz over what exactly Bethesda has up its sleeve that would require their own presser. Like much of the Internet community, I have my own ideas on the matter, and, also like the Internet community, I feel the need to share them with complete strangers whether they want to hear them or not.

Here are four of my predictions.

1. Elder Scrolls Online is Still Coming to Consoles

For whatever reason, the console version of ESO is still a thing, despite the fact that it was released on PC almost a year ago already. Considering how quickly it was completely forgotten about upon its release, it’s kind of amazing that Bethesda hasn’t just given up on the entire thing.

I’m guessing we’ll see a gameplay trailer while those in attendance will try their damnedest to stay awake (and the presenter will do his best not to die of embarrassment right there on the stage).

2. Dishonored will Finally Get a Sequel

DishonoredDishonored was released way back in 2012, which kind of feels like a long time ago. For many, it was a bit of a surprise, despite the pedigree from which it was born. In an interview with Destructoid, Bethesda’s Pete Hines stated that, “Dishonored far exceeding our sales expectations,” and that they, “clearly have a new franchise.” One has to assume that a sequel was greenlit fairly quickly, and, three years later, we’re more than likely going to get our first taste of it.

Don’t get too excited, though. I’m sure we won’t get much more than a teaser trailer.

3. Remasters, Remakes, and Re-releases.

If there’s one thing that this console generation has been ripe with, it’s remasters and remakes. We just saw the release of a remastered version of DmC: Devil May Cry. We’re on the brink of The Handsome Collection, which is just Borderlands 2 and The Pre-Sequel making their way to the Xbox One and PS4. Hell, we even recently witnessed a remake of a remake when Resident Evil HD Remaster landed on the new consoles not too long ago.

You can bet your bottom that Bethesda has more than a passing interest in hopping on this money train. Speaking of “money,” mine is on an Elder Scrolls: Skyrim remaster. Of course, if they wanted to shine up Fallout 3 and New Vegas and throw them on a disc, I’d be okay with that too!

4. Fallout 4 Is a Thing That Is Finally Happening

Fallout 3 screenshotFallout 4 is practically guaranteed to be happening. Why else would Bethesda feel the need to have a press conference if they weren’t planning on announcing the next Fallout? Combine that with the fact that several outlets are already speculating about the game, and I can say with complete confidence that an announcement will show up at the very end of the presser.

I already know how they’ll do it: Cut all the lights, cut the audio, let the crowd sit in complete silence. Just before they start to think the show must be over, all you hear is, “War. War never changes.”

Drop the goddamn mic! Show’s over!

I would kill for a Skyrim and Fallout(s) remaster. It is the one thing missing on my PS4. With that said, I would also kill for Fallout 4. Like literally kill. Of course I would then either be on the run, in prison or presumably living with insurmountable guilt which all might put a damper on my game time.
