IGN has obtained what it believes to be details and concept art for Destiny, the upcoming title from Bungie. The report comes from a reader of the site. Bungie reportedly confirmed that the document was indeed prepared by an unnamed advertising agency and take a look at the plot of Destiny.
Regarding the plot, the document says the following:
Our story begins seven hundred years from now in the Last City on Earth, in a Solar System littered with the ruins of man’s Golden Age. A massive, mysterious alien ship hangs overhead like a second Moon. No one knows where it came from or what it’s here for, but only that it’s our protector. Meanwhile, strange, alien monsters creep in from the edge of the universe, determined to take Earth and the Last City. We are young ‘knights’ tasked with defending the remains of humanity, discovering the source of these monsters and – eventually – overcoming it.
Bungie co-founder Jason Jones says that “Destiny is designed for your inner seven-year-old. We want to make it feel like a mythic adventure.” The report also briefly mentions gameplay, stating that it will be “social at its core” and offer a world to explore with friends, both old and new.” Whether or not this confirms the rumor that the title is an MMO remains to be seen.
While Bungie offered the traditional jargon and refused to comment, they did change their website…
Destiny is expected to be released for Xbox 360 and PS3, if we can believe the leaked concept art, which comes courtesy of IGN.
