E3 2015: I Wish Ubisoft Had Interesting Games to Show

Ubi-E315-DatedI just got done watching the Ubisoft E3 2015 press conference. I have to say, in many ways I’m really impressed. They worked incredibly hard to ensure there was nothing to complain about in terms of their conference, at least in terms of the standard SJW stuff.

That’s why I wish Ubisoft actually had something of interest to show.

I don’t want to take anything away from people who are excited about the new Assassin’s Creed game. Still, let’s be honest: it’s just another Assassin’s Creed game. There’s a vaguely interesting racing game, but even that only looks vaguely interesting. That was about the most enticing stuff, gamewise, that Ubisoft had to offer.

I’m not going to lie, I sort of fell in love with him every time he gave a thumbs up to random crowds folk who were applauding.

Later on, they had two African-American women on stage, who actually talked about their jobs. Not about men. Not about being black. About their jobs. That’s about as rare as me not drinking massive amounts of alcohol during these E3 conferences.

e3 angela bassettIn terms of presentation, Ubisoft absolutely knocked it out of the park. Not only is there nothing to complain about, there are a lot of things to commend them for. I’m incredibly happy that with the way they put this presentation together, because it shows that they’re paying attention to the way culture and social situations are going.

But in terms of actual things worth playing? Well, Ubisoft sort of failed. At the end of the conference, there just wasn’t anything that looked compelling.

But hey. Maybe Ubisoft will surprise us and drop some adorable unicorn breeding DLC for Child of Light.

…What, that’s not what everyone else wants?
