When the original Star Wars Battlefront was brand new, I spent countless hours on the Hoth map, protecting the Rebel base and bringing down walkers with Snowspeeders. As many times as I’ve experienced that scene in various Star Wars video games, nothing has felt closer to the scene from Empire Strikes Back than the Battlefront version of Hoth.
So even though the combat was super sloppy (it got a lot better in Battlefront 2, for the record), experiencing Hoth the way it was meant to be was incredible. In fact, I’m pretty sure I would seek out servers that played only the Hoth map on endless rotation.
Not only does the Rebel base look ridiculously cool in the DICE engine, but the gameplay looks smoother than it ever has in a Battlefront game.
Snowspeeder vs. AT-AT fights are back. Of course, it looks like you can pilot Snowspeeders with one player instead of two now, which I think is a little disappointing. One of my favorite parts of the Hoth battles was meeting other players and teaming up in the close quarters of a Rebel Snowspeeder.
Still, the scope of this new version of one of the most memorable battles in Star Wars history is grand, and I can’t wait to relive my Snowspeeder adventures when the game launches on November 17.
Oh, and Darth Vader. Your argument is invalid.
