E3 2015: Mirror’s Edge Catalyst Makes Me Wish I Cared About Mirror’s Edge

mirrors edge catalystMirror’s Edge Catalyst is everything I’ve been wanting AAA games to be.

It has a female protagonist who’s strong in her own right, as opposed to strong at the cost of male characters. It has a story that isn’t all about proving women are awesome, but about taking out a corrupt corporate regime. It’s great.

It’s so great I wish I gave a shit about it.

It’s not that it doesn’t look like a lot of fun. I’m sure the people who enjoyed the first Mirror’s Edge will enjoy it. Meanwhile, I’m sitting here going “…but first-person platforming fucking sucks.” Because it does suck. Or, at the very least, I’ve always hated first-person platforming.

I’m glad that Mirror’s Edge Catalyst is a thing. I hope it sells a hojillion copies. I want the gaming community to show EA that they should be putting tons of money into the Mirror’s Edge franchise.

I just wish I cared more about the franchise.
