Infamous First Light Is the Perfect Size for Me

First Light 3Infamous and Infamous 2 were both lauded by the community and raved about by the gaming press at large. I, however, was no fan.

I love exploring an open world, but the constant barrage of enemies in the first two Infamous titles left me with a foul taste in my mouth. Enemies were constantly shooting at my character, which meant I rarely had a moment of peace. Add in the super floaty controls, and I was not a happy camper.

But when I saw that Infamous First Light, a a standalone DLC game, was on sale for $7, I thought I might as well give it a try. Perhaps like with Assassin’s Creed: Freedom Cry, a smaller dose of the experience would be just enough to satiate my appetite. And indeed, it was.

Infamous First Light still has the same annoyances that plagued my time with previous Infamous titles, but its small size kept those annoyances from feeling frustrating or tedious.

Looking for a place to call home

At the end of the day, the story is whatever, the characters are decent, and the game play is serviceable. It’s a great way to waste an afternoon with an affordable price of admission.

Oh, and the game is gorgeous, so it’s got that going for it.
