I woke up this morning to find a message from an anonymous source complaining about Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD being hacked. This person claimed that scores of over 5 million points were showing up on the leaderboards, not even a week after launch. This has to be the work of those damn hackers, right?
Then I stumbled across this YouTube video by user GearsOfWarCRAZY that shows a player scoring over 9 million points in the School II level by exploiting the Heelflip Darkslide special move in combination with a super high multiplier. Check out his full profile, too; he’s got several videos of insane THPS HD scores.
Apparently, 9 million points is actually possible to get without cheating.
But what’s even more interesting is the description on this YouTuber’s video. In it, he claims to be the best THPS HD player in the world, accusing the scores above his of being hacked.
Well, in his words:
Oh by the way, I am now the top legitimate THPS HD player in the world. The top 3 players infront of me all used glitches or hacked saves to get ahead, I know this for a fact, because the top player, TNT something or another, has a website devoted to hacking THPS HD. DDonkeyslap accidentally fell thru the level on hangar and entered an infinite combo, saw it live on Prodigys stream. Other one, oO Mr Ed Oo, well, 60+ million is not possible to my understanding. Until I see proof he is legit, I’m calling fake.
And, wow, there is indeed a hack site called TNTSoftWare, but I couldn’t find any THPS hacks on it.
Still, doesn’t this video reveal that the scoring system in THPS HD is extremely broken? Or is accumulating an ungodly amount of points just part of the fun of a Tony Hawk throwback game?
